(Affiliated to the Bowls England, Somerset Bowls Association and Wessex Mixed Friendly Bowls League)

Founded 1932

Recreation Ground, Lightgate Lane/ TA13 5AU

We have members of all standard of play from beginners to county standard.

Over the years we have been successful in many competitions (League and Friendly) and commended by many other clubs for the high standard of the green and the friendliness of our members.  We are also noted for our afternoon teas!

Throughout the summer playing season we have roll-up sessions in the afternoons. Matches with other clubs include competitions, county, ladies and friendlies. Touring clubs are always welcomed.

Wednesday evening throughout the summer is club night from 6pm for competitions and roll ups. Some members can also be found in our licensed bar!

Coaching is available free of charge from our qualified coaches.

We have social lunches, evening entertainment, raffles, charity fundraising and the occasional BBQ if the weather allows.

If you fancy giving bowling a try then just turn up on a club night or during the roll up sessions, you just need some flat soled shoes.

We’d love to see you. We are always on the lookout for new members both young and old.

Take up bowls.
With people now looking for alternative sports that allow them to maintain social distance and play outside, the non-contact activities of bowls is firmly back on the agenda. Before lockdown, an increasing number of young people had been taking up lawn bowls - once the domain of elderly men and women dressed in white. Now Bowls England says the coming weeks and months are "an opportunity" for those "who currently don't play, to give bowls a try".

Club Renovation Update

Over the past two years the club has had a thorough refurbishment bringing it up to date and ready to meet the the present and future demands of the club. This has been a lot of work and a considerable amount of upheaval!
We would like to thank all those who worked hard to make this happen, all members for their support and patience, and the organisations that helped to fund this transformation of the the club; South Petherton Parish Council, South Somerset Community Fund, The National Lottery and Sports England.
